2019 Children’s Poetry Contest

Celebrate National Poetry Month by entering this year’s Sea Bright Library Poetry Contest! Entries must be submitted no later than April 30th, 2019. Before submitting, review our contest rules below!
Contest Rules:
Poems must be postmarked, emailed, or submitted on the official contest entry form.
Contestants must fall into one of the following grade divisions: K-3, 4-6, and 7-9.
Entries must be written neatly or typed and in English.
Poems must be 21 lines or less.
Be aware that for Divisions 4-6 and 7-9, “found” poems that take words of other published authors and are used to make a poem will not be accepted.
Contest is open to all children residing in Monmouth County.
Entries must be the original unpublished work of the child entering the contest.
Poems will no be returned. (Please keep a copy for your own records!)

All entries must be postmarked, submitted, or emailed no later than April 30th, 2019. Winners will be notified by May 15th, 2019.
Grade Divisions:
K-3
4-6*
7-9*
*Please be aware that for Divisions 4-6 and 7-9, “found” poems that take words of other published authors and are use to make a poem will not be accepted.
Prizes:
For each division:
1st place - $25 gift card to Barnes & Noble
2nd place - $15 gift card to Barnes & Noble
3rd place - $10 gift card to Barnes & Noble
Judges:
Poems will be reviewed and selected by members of the Sea Bright Library Staff and Committee, whose members include educators in elementary, secondary, and higher education.
